Why a $100 minimum purchase for pick-up?

We have made this decision for our family because we do not have a farm stand or place to meet at our farm. We personally meet up with you from our home and this keeps minimal trips back and forth. We aprpeciate you understanding so that we value our time and yours. We just aren't Amazon:)

How often do you deliver to the 417 Springfield area?

We deliver 1-2 times a month depending on the time of year and our schedule. We offer door drop off if you are home or not. We can leave beef in a cooler that you have left on your porch for you to come home to. We will reach out and coordinate a convenient date and time to deliver our beef. We will NOT drop it off with out communication with you.

What is hanging weight?

The hanging weight is the weight of the carcass before cutting each cut (so not actual pounds of beef). This pricing strategy is a common practice within our industry. A whole beef's hanging weight is typically around 840 pounds and you can expect about 60% of actual beef product from the hanging weight.

Is your beef Grass-Fed?

Our cattle live on pasture 365 days a year and have access to fresh grass during the grazing season and hay in the winter. Cattle in our beef program are no different other than having access to a supplemental grain for 270 days prior to harvest.

Feed is locally sourced and milled in Clever, MO. We feed a commodity mix, which includes distillers grains, soy hulls pellets, and crushed corn. We choose to supplement/feed this while they still have free choice to pasture because we prefer the marbling and flavor this produces within the animal. It is not a registered non-GMO grain product that we purchase.

We’re proud of how our cattle are raised — if you have more questions about how they’re cared for, we’re happy to share!

What breed of cattle do you have?

All animals in our beef program are Black Angus / Hereford cross. We are constantly improving our herds genetics to provide you with the best locally sourced beef possible!

What is dry aging?

Dry aging is when you take a piece of meat and put it into a controlled open-air environment to go through a flavour transformation. By exposing the meat to air, moisture is pulled out and the natural enzymes in the beef break the muscles down slowly over time, making it more tender.

We dry age our direct to consumer steaks for 14 days for optimum flavor.

Are your beefs born on your farm?

Yes - all cattle in our beef program are born, raised and finished on our farm.

Do you vaccinate your cattle?

Yes, we do have a vaccination program to keep our herd healthy. We vaccinate our cows once a year, and our calves twice at weaning to help prevent illness that comes with the stress of weaning.

We do not use MRNA vaccies - they are not available commercially, and no, the government does not mandate we vaccinate our cattle with anything.

Do you use antibiotics?

Yes, but on an as-needed basis only. We do not keep sick animals in our direct to consumer beefs. We only keep our healthiest and best animals for our beefs.
